Intensive Course “Ethics of Reproductive Technologies”, Leuven, Belgium, 14-16 November 2012The Centre for Biomedical Ethics and Law (of KU Leuven) is organising an intensive course on Ethics of Reproductive Technologies. The objective of this course is to focus at some of the most challenging ethical issues in reproductive medicine, as well on the level of fundamental notions as applied clinical questions. This fee includes tuition and course materials, as well as refreshments, three lunches and a dinner. Ethical aspects in tissue research: thematic analysis of ethical statements to the research ethicsThis paper by Arja Halkoaho, Anna-Maija Pietilä, Mari Vesalainen and Kirsi Vähäkangas in BMC Medical Ethics (doi:10.1186/1472-6939-13-20 8 August 2012) reports on the submissions to an ethics committee in Finland. It concludes that in addition to the written guidelines available on the webpages of the ethics committee, investigators need to be taught to appreciate the ethical aspects in their own studies.
