Akujuobi Igwe

About: Akujuobi Chukwubuike Igwe (BSc Hons, AMLSCN, MPH, Cert [AHG], PhD in view) is a highly skilled Biologist, board-certified and licensed Medical Laboratory Scientist, trained Public Health Field Epidemiologist, data analyst, teacher and writer. He has extensive expertise in clinical laboratory practice, public health laboratory services, molecular techniques, epidemiological studies, disease surveillance and global public health. His focus includes Infectious diseases, Emerging Infectious Diseases (EIDs), non-communicable diseases, Global Health Security (GHS), epidemiology, disease management, surveillance, and control. He is adept at formulating strategies and action plans for implementing disease prevention programs, strengthening surveillance systems for Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPDs) like measles, rubella, yellow fever, polio, diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, HPV, and COVID-19, including vaccine cold chain management and administration. Akujuobi has contributed to numerous projects focused on infectious diseases (e.g., tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, malaria, COVID-19), Health System strengthening (HSS) and Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) in collaboration with organizations such as the Lagos State Ministry of Health, Federal Ministry of Health, USAID/SHOPS plus, PharmAccess Foundation, Nigerian Institute of Medical Research (NIMR), Nigerian Center for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), World Health Organization (WHO), and others. A proficient project manager, Akujuobi leads multidisciplinary teams, supervises clinical research, oversees epidemiological studies from inception to completion, and ensures timely and budget-conscious project delivery. He is well-versed in both qualitative and quantitative research, data analysis, and preparing scientific papers for national and international forums. His expertise also extends to digital data collection tools (Google Forms, ODK Collect, SORMAS) and statistical software (SPSS, Epi-Info, SAS, STATA). Currently pursuing a PhD in Public Health with a focus on Epidemiology & Medical Statistics, Akujuobi remains committed to advancing global health through impactful research and community-driven initiatives.
