The Centre of Biomedical Ethics and Culture (CBEC), SIUT located in Karachi is a World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Bioethics. Inaugurated in 2004, CBEC runs a one year Postgraduate Diploma Program (PGD) in Biomedical Ethics for professionals from healthcare related institutions and a two year Masters in Bioethics (MBE) program for professionals from different disciplines including healthcare, social sciences, philosophy, law, education, etc.
Structured for working professionals, the PGD and MBE programs run concomitantly and require attending four on campus teaching modules and completing distance learning assignments during the year. Students are taught by national and international faculty.
Free accommodation on twin sharing basis, subject to availability, is provided to out of town students admitted to the programs.
CBEC is now accepting applications for intake of students for PGD, Class of 2020 and MBE, Class of 2021 for the next academic year that commences in January 2020.
The deadline for receiving complete applications in CBEC is July 20, 2019.

Additional Opportunity for Research Ethics Training in Nairobi, Kenya
PGD and MBE students who graduate from the programs will be eligible to apply for a fully funded two week Research Ethics Certificate Course and Practicum (RECC+P) in Nairobi, Kenya in 2021. The RECC+P is an educational initiative that forms part of CK-BTI, a five year academic collaboration between CBEC and the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI). The collaboration is funded through a grant by the Fogarty International Centre (FIC) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), USA.
